This project focuses on deploying and testing an “easy-to-teach” programming tool for industrial robotics in a welding robot cell. With this tool, an operator can guide the robot’s path using a physical device resembling a welding torch. The path data is recorded and converted into a robot program that the system can execute in the production process.
Technologies involved: Robotics, welding robot, programming tool, simulation
As part of the project, a digital twin of Elektrorakenne’s welding robot cell has been created to test optimal camera placements for the teaching tool. This speeds up the real-world implementation when the system is delivered. Another goal is to ensure the programming tool integrates seamlessly with the 2-axis positioner used during welding. The tool significantly reduces the time required to teach welding paths to the robot, boosting production efficiency.
